Preston women’s goalkeeper Elizabeth Eyar has been selected to play in the WPL All Stars team against the Melbourne Victory women’s on Saturday 2nd of November at John Cain Memorial Reserve in Darebin.
The WPL All Stars were brought about by the eleven Women’s Premier League Clubs of Victoria to enhance the sport and provide additional opportunity for exposure and games after the conclusion of the winter league. Elizabeth has done the club very proud by being selected at the age of 18.
The final game of the season against the Casey Comets, saw Eyar pull off fantastic saves to deny Comets plenty of goals that left All Stars assistant Ian Williamson (also Casey Coach) in oar and thought it was a ‘no brainer’ but to have her selected in the squad.
The All Stars (Victoria) played against the Tasmanian All Stars last weekend in the Bass Straight Cup and lost 1-0 in which Elizabeth Eyar came on in the 75th minute mark of the game and played well. She hopes to get a bit more game time against the Victory and will no doubt enhance her development playing against such a great squad who are preparing for their opening game of the W-League season in a few weeks time.
In what was a very tough year for the Lionesses, this is definitely a highlight for both Eyar and the club to have her representing Preston Lions in the All Stars team.
The game will kick off at 2pm on Saturday 2nd November on the John Cain Memorial Reserve next to DISC. Entrance will be free and a great day to enjoy competitive womens football and meet the players of the upcoming W-League campaign.
Hope you can all come down to watch and support Lizzy and the girls in action.
Preston Lions like to wish Elizabeth Eyar all the very best in the upcoming game this weekend.
